This is the world’s longest railway and highway bridge – Pingtan Strait Bridge. Where it is located, there are strong winds, high waves, deep water, fast current and obvious tides. Over 300 days a year, it is a gale of grade 6 or above. Its wave and current force is more than 10 times that of the Yangtze River and the Inland river. It is called “the forbidden zone for building bridges”.
Zhang Hongxin, executive deputy manager of Pingtan Strait Bridge Project of China Railway Bridge Bureau, said that in view of the complex construction conditions, technicians have carried out the construction technology of offshore construction platform, the construction technology of super-large diameter bored piles under complex sea conditions, and the construction technology of high tower in strong wind environment of the Strait and other technologies.
“This is a world-class project. It shows not only the speed of China, but also the technology of China. Zhang Hongxin said.
In the past 40 years of reform and opening-up, it is through continuous accumulation that China Railway has gradually acquired a large number of core technologies with independent intellectual property rights in the design and manufacture of high-speed railway, plateau railway, heavy-haul railway, long-span bridges, long tunnels, railway turnouts and shield tunnels, etc. It is also in the construction of complete sets of technologies and bridges for high-speed railway. Many fields, such as construction technology, tunnel and underground engineering construction technology, and “four-power” integration technology, are at the advanced level in the world.
In order to promote sustained and long-term innovation, China Railway insists on linking scientific and technological input to the main business income of enterprises at all levels. High-tech enterprises and research-oriented enterprises should include no less than 3% and 5% of their business income in the current year’s budget, requiring enterprises at all levels to increase their scientific and technological input not less than the growth rate of their business income in the previous year, and to incorporate science and technology into their budgets. Investment is included in the performance appraisal index of leaders of secondary enterprises. At the same time, the “China Railway Science and Technology Award Special Fund” has been established with the national and local reward funds, which provides strong support for the development of science and technology research and development.
At the same time of rapid development in China, China Railway is also accelerating the pace of “going out”.
Zhang Zongyan, president of China Railway, said that as one of the earliest “going global” enterprises in China’s railway system, China Railway’s engineering projects have spread over more than 80 countries and regions around the world.
As early as the 1970s, China Railway undertook the construction task of Tanzania-Zambia Railway, the first foreign aid project of New China. Since the reform and opening up, especially in 2001, China formally put forward the strategy of “going out”.
